What I Have Been Doing With My Life

My parents did give my room a makeover though! ((:

A new coat of paint.

New glass-top table.

New wardrobe!

Yay. I find myself liking my room for the first time ever.
Nothing much is happening in my life right now though. ):
I'm preoccupied with studies and mostly saving money to buy clothes.

And I've taken a liking to corn, having given up on baking.
Its so much easier to steam and add butter and salt. As compared to, say, whisking and mixing and spending on ingredients.

My mum says that's what farmers feed horses and donkeys. Corn, I mean.

*Its like 32 degreesC and my Dad doesn't let me turn the air con on because I'm not studying.

What kind of f-ing logic is that.*

The latest interesting thing to happen is that I got a new pair of shoes!
Which are dirt cheap too! ^^

Aren't they amazing?? :D

I can spend hours looking at them! -blissful-

But not walking in them, unfortunately. ):
The heels are not really high, but I can hardly walk in them.

Oh well, gotta practice more I guess.

Domestic Goddess Attempt #6

I tried making Truffles today! ((:

This time, no baking needed; got a kind of oven-phobia since Attempt #4 and #5.

Truffles are like that Fungus growing on tree roots. So I suppose mine can be called Faux Truffles. Haha!
Okay sorry.

So. This was what I was trying to achieve! (:

Step 1:
Boil 25 grams unsalted butter and 18o grams whipping cream.

I bought Salted butter though. ):

Step 2:
Break 221 grams chocolate apart.

And this is only 200 grams. ):
Getting everything wrong.

Step 3:
Pour boiled buttermilk over chocolate

Yay!
Then I put it in the fridge to chill.

Step 4:
Make coating.
Cause cocoa powder was really expensive. :\

So I set it aside and waited for the chocolate to solidify.
Then I realised one horrible mistake I made: I added too much butter.

Somehow I thought
125 / 3 = 25

Wth right! I added like DOUBLE the amount of butter.
Seriously saddened.

And when I was shaping and coating the chocolate, it melted wayyy too fast (butter's fault) and tastes salty (butter's fault).

Oh well.

Okay, so I've abandoned both my Blog and Facebook for too long. But heck, here are some overdues from the photobin.

I tried progressing another level higher by making Chocolate Cheesecake, as compared to the previous normal Cheesecake I made. The only difference is the adding of the chocolate. But oh gosh, I screwed that up wayyy badly.

It started off fine. This is my Marie Biscuit crumbs mixed with melted chocolate. Looks perfect right? Its like amazingly good-looking. The height and everything was perfect. Can't emphasize enough.

Looks like marble cake batter. Jiali said making it is fun, should try that next time hahaha.

The batter looks so normal right. Its as though nothing could go wrong.

And this abomination was the end result of four hours of hard work.
Wth right!! It looks like a slab of metamorphic rock la! Was so pissed and upset! :O

Its shorter than my thumb!

Nonetheless, I coated it with my ganache (which I screwed up too) and put it in the fridge to chill, hoping it'd taste nice, at least.

Its barely 2cm tall alright! )):
'Cause I got all the measurements reversed. I put 2 parts chocolate into 1 part cheese. So maybe that's why its twice as short as a normal cake? :\

It looks normal (kinda) at the end, but it tastes like crap. I swear. Its like I'm eating smushed chocolate.

So the next day I went back to baking normal Cheesecake.
But I screwed up again.

The cake tin overturned in the stupid oven!
WTH RIGHT! This is worse than having my dimensions wrong, cause I couldn't even get past the last crucial part. It was heartbreaking.

My poor batter.

I think I'll stick to shopping and all that normal stuff. ):

I think STOMP.com.sg has got to be the most silly and redundant website ever.

Its full of complaints from Singaporeans who are unhappy with something or other but are unwilling to do anything about it.

Taking for example the PDA incident of JC students on the train. The foreigner did nothing to stop it, but merely took out his phone and started snapping away.

Dude. Anyone can do that, alright. If you're so darn unhappy about it, go say something to them.

Instead of like, waiting til you get home and taking the trouble to upload those photos and more or less disrupt their lives. Isn't it so much easier to do something on the spot?

What gives you the right to pass judgment on strangers, anyway? Since you're so obviously lacking in the courage and 'morality' you so emphasize upon.

You know those big machines with soft toys and stuff inside, where you use the metal pincers to try and retrieve them? Yeah. The shop keepers are big time scammers!

They place toys in strategic positions near the edge of the chute, to try and entice you to throw money in and play! ):

And then when you can't get it, the stupid guy comes out and demonstrates how to get it. Usually something disgustingly easy, like tipping the toy over so it falls backward into the chute. Or something. Anyway, he demonstrates and puts it back and wait happily for the victim to throw in more cash. But then they don't get it cause they're not that accurate.

And when they see you are hesitant about it, they go ahead and place one more Bloody Bear into the machine to lure you!

Update from yesterday.

I've been trying to a Domestic Goddess! Not exactly an expert in everything, but I do like being a Jack of all Trades! (: A lil' bit of practical work here and there.

Update on dentist trip! (:

The place where he injected the anesthesia have evolved into ulcers. ): It hurts like mad.

I got 7 injections the first time. 'Cause I did two teeth. This time I have about four or five in total. First he applied an ointment to numb the area, then he injected a little anesthesia, and when the numbness kicked in he injected more.

It wasn't too painful, overall. I think it hurts more when you bite your lip accidentally while chewing food. Haha.

Today, I went out with family for dinner. I initially thought we were going to some lousy place like a food court, but turns out we went to some Indo/Thai/Chine restaurant.

And I didn't bring my camera! D:

I was so upset. ): Started taking photos with cell, but obviously the quality of Samsung Preston's 2 megapix was incomparable to my Dad's Ixus.

I took lots of photos of the food but they don't do them any justice! Oh well..

Anyway, my mum and I later went to get baking supplies. I'm going to try baking cookies today! :D

I've always wanted to bake something and I'm doing it for the first time today! All by myself! I'm so excited.. We bought baking sheets to line the pan, and eggs too. 'Cause we ran out of them. Lol.

Hello!

Today, I woke up superrr early, like 9-ish, to meet my cousins to rush down to Causeway Point to catch Alvin and the Chipmunks 2. I won't say 'The Squeakquel', alright. Sounds so dumb. ):

Why the 10.30 am movie you might ask? And why today? And why Causeway Point?

Well, because my younger cousin wanted to get the A&C plushies. Today is the first opening day for Theodore and Eleanor. The green ones. And she wanted the earlier movie, and the ulu-est Cathay branch, so as to get a higher chance of getting the plushy.

Did we suceed? No. ):

I don't believe there's no more stock lo, bet the employees kept it for themselves. ): Feel cheated..

And then I had no money, so my cousins went home instead of eating lunch as we had originally planned. I then headed down to Republic Poly to study.

Wahh that place is designer man. Big fountains and airy walkways and big halls.
You won't have to be afraid of running into deadends if there was ever a mass shootout. Not that there will be, but I'm just illustrating my point.

Unlike YJ. If a troubled kid ever runs in with a gun, you will have nowhere to hide. Maybe in the piano. But most probably you'll get trapped in the science lab or even get stuck on fourth floor, or get cornered in the useless corridors outside the classroom. Some have deadends you know. I have zero idea why its built this way. :\ Not that its anyones fault and all. (We're probably normal sized)

I'm just trying to say that big airy walkways are infinitely better.
Can't disagree with that.

Hello!

Today I went to the dentist's for Part 2 of my root canal treatment.

'Cause two of my teeth were decaying, and the bacteria went up my root canal, and my upper gum at the bone area was inflamed due to build up of decay and pus.

(:

Haha. Anyway, dentist drilled the entire length of my teeth down to the bone, hollowing the teeth out and stuffing the teeth canal with medication and recapping them with temporary filling.

Today, he drilled the filling away and stuffed more medicine, and filled the canal with this long, paper/plastic-like thingy to fill up the canal.

Then he took out this flame torch, which had a blue flame, and heated a hand-held probe (the sharp pointed, curved needle-like thingy) until the metal was burning red, and burned the excess off the paper/plastic filler.

Was so worried he'd aim wrongly and burn my tongue or something. ):

Then I went off with my Dad who was waiting for me, and had lunch.
And then we went to buy Bro's protein shake.
Did groceries for Mum, who wanted to make baked rice for dinner.

It looks weird, but tastes damn nice! My mum's an awesome cook man, her food is to die for!
I think we used the wrong cheese here. Gotta head down to get the grated one soon.

And also to get ingredients to bake cookies! (: I'm so excited about it. Never tried baking stuff before!

I also went to buy lip balm! 'Cause my lips were chapped and slightly bleeding from opening my mouth -without closing- for about 2 hours while dentist drilled away. Or maybe less. Haha.

I think this is a good lipbalm! (:

Hmm, what I think is. Its better than those cosmetic ones, like LipIce Mentholatum and Maybelline's new ones.
They do have a nice packaging and all, but LipIce tastes like medicated oil, and Maybelline doesn't do much long term improvement.

And Nivea tastes like Playdoh!

This one is mad nice smelling! (: Faint malt fragrance, I guess its from the cocoa. And cocoa butter moisturises real well too. Andddd its used to make chocolate.

I think pregnant women use it for stretch marks. So I suppose you can use it on the lips too? Haha. Hmm. Kinda gross.

That's just my two cents worth anyway. (:
I don't think many people need lipbalm, just the few like me who don't drink much water.

Anyways, I was busy with another project yesterday.

Due to serious lack of funds, I don't usually throw my old clothes away if I can help it.
I would like, try to make something new out of it.

Like a shirt can be a scarf,
and a dress can be a shirt,
a shirt can be a skirt,
old jeans can be cutoff shorts,
a blazer (which I'm so going to cut up) can be a vest.

Yay!
But more often than not, I get really disastrous results. )):

Like this once when I tried to tie-dye my hoodie, but instead of using fabric dye, I used spray paint. The hoodie looks like its been through jungle training.

Haha anyhow, I was doing that to my boots yesterday! Boots which I got from HK twenty years ago, and haven't worn for mad long 'cause I decided it looks too weird. :\

Introducing the project:

I used to like it alot, cause it wasn't so yellowed and stiff.
It also shrunk. Or my feet got bigger. I don't know which. :|

I realised I haven't worn it for like one year plus.
And its kinda hard to match with outfits too.

Its two years old, and made with poor quality suede and kept together with glue.
Made in China.

Lol soo it turned really yellow and looked worm infested and all that.

Color not true!
Its far, far worse in actual life.

So ugly right. ): Looks like milk stains.
And since nobody in their right mind would wear it out and try to pass it off as pattern or design, I wouldn't either.

And so I cut it up! :D
To try and make something more wearable and less attention grabbing.
And so I planned to do away with the middle section and combine the top and bottom pieces.

If you were wondering why I couldn't just chop off the top part and fold it down, it is because, as I've said, its not of good quality, and the inside is just lining. ):

Not suede all the way down, like steve maddens.

N'way I sewed for the entire afternoon, and then I realized the fabric of the bottom most piece was still too high/long. And the end product looked like Ugg boots without the fur. ):
Real fugly.

So I cut more fabric away!

And stitched the edges to prevent fraying. Its not even real suede, so it frays. ): And stretches too. Irritatingz.

I also made a slit down the top middle to extend the opening 'cause my feet are too big to shove down the boot.

Then I took the top part, which is the one to be folded down..

...and flipped it inside out.
(As you can see, its already the next day. :\ What am I doing with my life man.)

Then I sewed it onto the shoe, and folded the excess down.

End result! :D

Later, went back to Orchard ION to meet rest of family. Bro and other cousin went to a sports shop called Li Ning. From China, and they got Lin Dan to endorse their products. Haha.

Their paper bag was really cute though!

I woke up at 2.30pm today, late for church.
I didn't even hear my parents leave. :|

Oh well.

Anyway! This was my breakfast/lunch. I had instant garlic bread.

the HOTTEST guy in Singapore right now.

He is handsome (most of the time), smart, funny, and gosh-darn-cute!

And he just got a haircut, and is botak now. ^^ Like an NS guy. But not completely.

I got a pretty miserable-looking photo though, 'cause he's not that photogenic, but he's really cute real life! ^^

And he's really clever. He can lie down, sit, hi-5, jump, and play dead. But his skills are kinda rusty 'cause he's realllyy old, about 5 years , and going to die in 13 years. ):

He's toilet trained want he wants to be, but no worries, he will get his skills back with a bit of patient training! (:

Let's take a look then:

1. He is toilet trained. So smart. But I didn't get him sterilized, and so he likes to mark territory and all that.

2. He sleeps in a A4 box cover, 'cause we don't have a better bed for him. ): But still, it shows his sophistication, eh? :D 'Cause, you know, he sleeps in a bed and all. He's really high class, or as far as circumstances allow. As I've said, we don't have anything better.

3. He picks up his bowl with his paws! :D If that's not smart, I don't know what it is. First he steps on it to flip the opposite end up and then picks it up with his mouth.

Like this! :D Got style, yknow. ^^

From a single random shot, we can derive so many good points about Toffee. And thus from this simple fact, one can infer that he's really uncommonly smart, and also very handsome.

Overall, a very good catch. (:

Hello!

Like my new blogskin? :D

I realised I was blogging really infrequently, so I figured it was the old blogskin that was boring me. Wanted something light though. Somehow ended doing this kinda gloomy one. :\

Anyhows, in case you were wondering, my Christmas was spent at home. ): Yeah. No family celebrations or gathering this year. Its kinda sad.

I have a feeling this will be a really dismal year for me. What with A levels and all. I'm totally unprepared, and wonder if I will ever be, and therefore...

Gets' prediction/forecast for 2010:

Gloomy and dark with plenty of stress and despair.

I almost wish that 2012 Mayan end of world thing is true. ): Almost, but not quite.
It can't be true right, that Mayan thing. But the movie 2012 makes it so real.

I want to watch it again! But its already out of cinemas. ): Anyway, watched Avatar on 23 Dec, Wednesday. Caught it in 3D. You'd think it was amazing and all that, right? And it would have been, if not for the fact that I was like, second row or so. :\

I couldn't see the ends of the screen, and everything was blurry and jumpy, and from where I was, Jake Sully looked like a smurf.

And the whole tribal thing was kinda freaky, cause they were blue, and really stick-skinny, and they were doing this weird ritual where all the blues gather around a tree and do the hula dance.

It looked like a scene from Zombieland.

And the whole romance thing was just bleh. Like. I totally cannot relate to ten feet tall aliens who cannot speak english. Just didn't work for me.

And the Na'vi wail. When they cry, I mean. That Neytiri alien tribe princess was making this GAHHH sound when she was crying. It was terrible; sounds like some half slaughtered animal. You'd like to do it a favour and put it out of its misery.

I didn't give a crap bout the characters at all; when they died my response was "Oh, they died." Unlike in 2012, where even the bad guys have a good side and vice versa.

Yeah. The animation and graphics and details were good I suppose. I couldn't really tell. 3D in second row and all. But from what I saw in the trailers, they were good.

But honestly I like 2012 so much more. Not that they are related in anyway though.

I think there is too much hype about Avatar. ): I got really excited about it, but turns out it wasn't particularly memorable.

Oh well. Don't take my word for it though. As it turns out, I missed all the good parts of the movie due to cramped neck and near-blindness from too-close screen.

We gotta wake up like, working hours during holidays. 9 to 5 kinda thing. Hmm. Experience learnt from the attachment would defo be cool and all that. All the same, can't help wishing I could sleep in. ):
